My artwork focuses very much on alchemy and transformation of familiar materials into other objects. I am very concerned with the integrity of the finished product, and it is important to me that the end result is not easily understood by the viewer in the effect of not knowing what the piece is made out of and what was the process. I have always been fascinated with artists that I can't figure out how they did what they did. The more I delve into art the more I do understand process.
I have always been making things throughout my life. I used to think that an artist had to be very focused in one medium like a painter or sculptor etc., but I believe that an artist can use whatever materials they want to convey their idea or purpose. I am also very much in love with music and sound which is also all around us. I hear music when I look at things. Certain art makes me hear certain sounds or songs, so I am very interested in combining the two.
Most of my art is abstract, but represents what can't be said or explained. When I make these pieces I am thinking about many things, especially the earth and what we take for granted on a regular basis. There is art all around us. The current state of society is also very influential. Some of my work contains concentrated areas of chaos surrounded by a sea of calm which touches another area of chaos, just as in life. I create art that represents the mystery of this world and I want these pieces to be icons of whatever the viewer wants to perceive them as. Obviously I have my own idea of what these pieces stand for, sometimes more than just one idea, but I enjoy hearing what other people interpret.
